CHOOSING A REAL-ESTATE OR LEASING PROFESSIONAL (Existing Homes)

a) “Rate a Home” recommends hiring a Licensed Real Estate Agent. Although you may be able to purchase a home from a seller on your own, a professional Real Estate Agent or Real Estate company can help you avoid some costly mistakes.

 b) Research your options in a Real-Estate Agent or Company through the following:

*        Real-Estate or Leasing Associations National, State and/or Local

*        Internet

*        Recommendations of friends and/or family

c) Interview the agent or agents of your choice to determine compatibility and knowledge of the real estate industry, as well as fees involved (if any).

*        Use the free "Agent Interview and Agent Rating System”.

*        Review the “Scoring System Definitions”.

*        Ask for references

d) You may need a Buyers Agent if you hire a Real-Estate Agent to help you navigate through the buying process. Agree in advance who would be responsible for the Agents commission.

*        You may be requested to sign a Buyers Agent Agreement (read the agreement thoroughly and don’t be afraid to ask questions). This agreement is not uncommon in the Real-Estate industry, but isn’t used by all agencies.

e) Determine the best method of communication between you and the Real-Estate Agent during and/or after the buying process.
